Our 6 ft heavy-duty rope leash. It handles daily walks, basic training and most dogs from medium to giant. Add a 20 ft line later for recall.
The 1/2-inch nylon rope is built for large and giant breeds, and our 15 ft listing is rated for dogs up to 150 lb. The swivel hook is solid metal, about 36 g.
Not when it sits high on the neck and you release pressure immediately. It's a training and transfer tool. Dogs with breathing or trachea issues should use a harness instead.
A slip lead is leash and loop in one piece. Our rope slip collar is just the loop with a ring — you clip your own leash to it.
MayPaw rope dog leashes, slip leads and tie-outs — how we build them
MayPaw makes the gear that hangs on the hook by your front door: heavy-duty rope dog leashes, British-style slip leads, rope slip collars, double-handle corduroy leashes, PU leather collars, service dog leashes and long dog tie-outs. Everything starts with nylon rope or soft webbing and ends with hardware we'd trust on our own dogs.
Our heavy-duty rope leash is 1/2-inch braided nylon with a padded non-slip handle and a 360° swivel hook, cut in lengths from 3 to 30 feet and in more than sixteen colors and patterns. The 6-foot rope leash is the everyday walking length; 10 feet adds sniffing room; 15- and 20-foot long leashes are for camping, beach days and recall training.
A slip lead dog leash combines leash and collar in one loop. Ours use 1/4-inch high-density nylon and an oil-tanned leather stopper, in 5- and 7-foot lengths for small, medium and large dogs. The rope slip collar works like a martingale for dogs that back out of flat collars — clip your own leash to the ring.
For city walking, the double-handle dog leash adds a traffic handle just above the clip for crosswalks and crowds. Our corduroy version is 6 feet by 1 inch of soft cotton webbing with reinforced edges, a golden swivel hook and a D-ring for bags.
Our dog tie-out lines are 3/8-inch nylon with a heavy swivel clip at both ends, from a 10-foot check cord to 80- and 100-foot reflective long lines for big yards and fields. Always supervise a tied-out dog and clear the radius of anything the line could wrap around.
Collars round out the hook: soft PU leather dog collars from XS to L with burnished fur-safe edges, plus SERVICE DOG collars and 4-foot service dog leashes printed on both sides for working days in public.
